WHAT THIS ACTUALLY IS

Clove Leaf Essential Oil, steam distilled from the leaves of Eugenia caryophyllata from Indonesia. Warm, strong and darkly spiced, with real weight to it, the kind of scent that was once worth more than gold and clearly still remembers being important. Its name comes from the Latin for 'nail', and it holds a room together about as firmly.

Avoid use during pregnancy and around children under 3. Avoid eyes and sensitive areas. Keep away from children, pets, heat, sparks and open flames. Store upright and tightly closed. Use in a well-ventilated space and never leave heated equipment unattended. Seek professional guidance if breastfeeding, taking medication, managing a health condition, or using around vulnerable people. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.

Stave called the modern lounge a hug from a rumour.

Stave is a tomte, one of the small, straight-backed old house-guardians who kept the farms and halls of the cold countries in order and expected, in return, to be treated with a bit of respect. He keeps the Old Cupboard, the deep warm press where the Sanctum's serious spices are stored, and he keeps it the old way: everything in order, everything with its proper weight, nothing soft that ought to be firm.

He trusts clove above almost anything because it is a comfort with a backbone: warm, yes, but dark and strong and entirely unapologetic, a spice that was once worth more than gold and has never once tried to be inoffensive about it. Stave approves of this deeply. Stave approves of very little.
