THE OVURWURLD

The world upstairs. You live there.

The Ovurwurld is the ordinary world above Wunderwurld: the surface, upstairs, the place with the beige hallways and the lighting nobody chose on purpose. We are fond of it. We are also going to tease it a little, because someone has to.

OUR WURLD
WHAT WE CALL YOU

Surfacefolk, Ovurs, upstairs folk.

Ordinary people go by a few names down here. When clarity matters, we just say customers. When it doesn’t, we say Surfacefolk: the good people of the surface, caught in ordinary life, doing ordinary shopping, under ordinary bulbs.

You are not the villains of this story. You are the point of it. Every wonder we carry up is meant for exactly one of you.

Things we tease you about, gently

The lighting

One cold ceiling bulb doing the work of a candle, a lamp and a fireplace, and doing none of them well.

The beige of it all

Rooms painted the colour of a shrug. You had bolder options. You chose the shrug.

Over-sensible shopping

You had sensible options. You came here instead. Good. We noticed. We approve.

The suspicious mug

Everyone upstairs owns one mug they distrust and refuse to throw away. We have questions.

Delivery panic

The window says two days. You will still stand at the glass on day one, like a lighthouse for parcels.

The damp towel

Never quite dry, never quite thrown out. The Lather Lagoon has strong opinions about this.

We tease the habit, never the person. No mockery of hardship, illness, grief, faith or genuine rest. The enemy is beige normality, not the people living inside it.

The trouble is, upstairs stopped believing.

And when the Ovurwurld stops believing in wonder, the wurld below starts to fade.
