WHAT YOU'VE BEEN SOLD
Being 'put together', now a full-time job.
Somewhere it was decided that looking effortlessly put-together should require enormous, ongoing, unpaid effort. Being crisp became a full-time job with its own product aisle: the routine, the twelve steps, the serums and sprays and systems you must keep up or fall visibly behind. Effortless was quietly redefined as expensive and exhausting. The leaf, meanwhile, is simply crisp, achieves it without trying, and declines, politely, to sell you a routine.
No twelve-step anything. One green pressed note. Done.
